How exactly the postio should be to have less painful i mean when u r having for the first time?

I am a married female ,my hubby tried to insert his in my vargina and he fails to do so? coz i dont open my legs properly or coz he is unable to trace it properly ? I am worried wen i see how can such a big thing enter ? I know it will pain, please hel us to find a solution?
