Is it possibe to convert an external HD from NTFS to FAT32?

The whole story. I am an avid movie downloader and as disk space was being eaten up by the movie files on my 'C' drive I transerred my files to an external Phillips 250GB HD. My plan was to use this in conjunction with a Onn DVD player fitted with a USB connection to access and watch my playlist. The problem arose when I first connected the HD to the DVD. It came up with the message ...USB format not recognised. This on examination hinted that the devices were conficting because of their individual file systems. Can some absolute whiz out there help?
