Going to NYC soon. What are some non-touristy things to do?

I've got all the tourist part covered, just need ideas/recommendations from people who have been there before on all of New York's secrets. What do New Yorker's do for fun? They obviously don't go see the Statue of Liberty over and over again :) Help would be great! Thanks! Oh and amazing restaurant recommendations would be awesome!
