For latina/spanish people or people who prepare spanish food, I have a question? ( Best answer gets 12 points!?

I was at a friends house and her mother made this soup-like thing. It was a kind of broth with white rice and we added hot sauce to it. really want to make it but I need a good recipe because I know there are probably many spices invovled. Thanks!
